KESTE | PREYSEEKER
A naturally scrawny male wolf crept up to the lake with his ears forward and his head lowered, scanning the surroundings for any intruders. He had come to the lake to have some time to swim before he'd go out hunting for the day. Who knows? Maybe he'd get lucky and catch a fish or two. When he couldn't see any Aurum pack members in the area, he straightened up with an eager wag of his tail and quickened his pace to the water, " Come on, Nita!" He called over his shoulder, despite knowing well enough that she was not the best swimmer. In that short moment of excitement, he became care-free, a rare sight for the more submissive male. With a mighty leap, at least as might as Keste could do, he launched himself in the water. TAGS: Nita NOTES: Yeah, Nita...

° NITA | PATH-FINDER °
It was well into the day when a certain male wolf - Keste, the female's mate - approached Nita and practically dragged her a favored spot of his - Arbor Lake. Truth be told, she was mildly annoyed with Keste, mainly because he had decided to approach her when she was planning to go and scout out the territory once more just so he could take a dip in the lake. At first she disagreed, shooting him down with a firm "No" but alas, after seeing how his expression and mood dropped, she felt wuite bad and in the end she gave in. The lake was the last place she wished to be, and for good reason. Anytime Nita caught a glimpse of the lake, memories of her floundering and panicking in the waters would flood her mind. She was still mortified, even more so when it was Keste had witnessed it and had to be the one to pull her out. Nita had not been able even look at him since then, sometimes even making harsh comments to cover up her embarassment. Of course, as she was cooling down, she tried to reason with herself, saying how it was her fur that was to blame. It was not a lie; Nita's fur is thick and the water had weighed her down, making moving hard. Nita was just that prideful. Eventually she had came around and started talking to him normally. Nita never apologized for being rude, it was just painful for her to do. She did, however, attempt to hint at it through little actions, such as sharing. Keste's bark of joy jolted Nita out of her memories, forcing her to watch as he leapt into the waters. She growled softly when the water splashed, sending droplets flying on her paws. Nita glanced up and narrowed her amber eyes at him, but the feeling quicky faded when she noticed how happy he was to be swimming. Forcing her complaints back in her mind, and not out of her jaws, she decided she would let him have his fun. However, she was not joining him. And she wouldn't even if he had begged. With a slight flick of her long tail, Nita walked along the bank, watching Keste. "I do not understand how you can waste time doing something like this," she sighed. The Timberwolf swung her head from left and right, ears straight and alert. They weren't exactly near the territory of those Aurum wolves but that didn't promise anything. She stole once last weary glance are her mate, feeling somewhat envious. He was able to relax, unlike her. Nita didn't allow herseld to be carefree; someone had to be ready in worst-case scenarios. Keste's head resurfaced and he contently swam around in the cool waters, paddling around in a circle with his wide brown eyes locked on his mate. He grunted at Nita's reluctance to join him in for a bit of fun but didn't dare to argue with her over it. Whether he enjoyed to admit it or not, her words were law most of the time, for him anyways. He wouldn't ever force her to repeat herself without a reasonable cause, it worked better that way for their relationship. From the outside looking in, many would easily assume their relationship was unhealthy and abusive. He didn't think so. It took a lot of tolerance and patience to be the partner of Nita, something that so very few males had. Being the more atypical submissive male wolf he was, he was able to step back and let the she-wolf take control of situations most of the time. Keste did a couple more little circles before swimming closer to where Nita stood, moving in shallow another that he could stand with the water up to the base of his neck. " It is fun." He responded simply, lowering his head with a slight tilt to it. He noticed her concern over possible scenarios that would be less than ideal, and couldn't help but lose his carefree attitude. He perked his ears up, scanning the area once more with his usual nervous glances, " I didn't sense anything when we first arrived." TAGS: NitaNOTES:

Stevie followed the distant sound of water splashing, along with the trail of familiar scents, to Arbor Lake. She'd had a rather shit morning; a particularly harsh scuffle with a coyote had her already wild fur even more mussed, and there was still tufts of the coyote's pelt stuck in her teeth, peeking out her her lips. The damn thing had even managed to bite her front leg enough to draw blood. It didn't hurt at all, but it sent her into a sour mood nonetheless.
Eventually two of her tribe-mates came into view, with Nita looking tense as always and Keste wading in the shallow banks. They were talking but Stevie didn't bother to listen in, only grunting in acknowledgement as she passed right by them and headed towards the inviting water. She began swimming around slowly, her eyes closing as she enjoyed the sensation. It took a moment for the cool liquid to soak through her pelt, but as it did she couldn't hold back the sigh of relief that overcame her, her leg wound being washed and all signs of her earlier fight being drowned in the lake. She'd have to get out soon and even considered offering her help to Keste for a hunt, but for now she just let herself swim.

The Timberwolf snorted at Keste's simple reply, not really surprised. Nita was just about reply to his last comment, ready to tell him that it is always best to be aware of his surroundings at all times, but another scent invaded her nostrils before she could get the words out. Not recognizing the scent immediately, Nita swung her head to the side, taking note that it wae coming from the direction of their own territory. She narrowed her eyes but found herself releasing a soft sigh of relief when a fellow tribe mate, Steviie, broke through the shadows. Nita watched as Stevie made her way towards them, at first believing she wished to talk. But Nita knew how Stevie was, so she wasn't surprised when the other continued walking by. Even though she wasn't going to converse, Nita was pleased that Stevie had made a sound of acknowledgment of their presence. In turn, Nita dipped her head. Despite the fact that Stevie was younger than both she and Keste, Nita respected her greatly; thanks to her contributions and to her strength, the tribe found themselves more relaxed. As Stevie slipped into the water, Nita returned her gaze onto Keste. " Do you want to continue swimming?" She finally asked, stealing a glance at the sky above her. The sun seemed to be hanging at the highest point, meaning they still had quite a while before sun down. Even though she was anxious to start her rounds, she decided that it wouldn't even take that long. Perhaps she would even wade into the shallow bits with Keste to cool off before departing.

Keste had tensed up as the sound of another approaching but it didn't last long when he spotted Stevie stepping out to join them. His muscles relaxed significantly but he would remain on guard, just in case. He watched as the other wolf passed by with a simple grunt, moving to swim around the area he was just in. " Good morning, Stevie." He greeted politely, turning his body to get a better view of the female. He then glanced over his shoulder at Nita at her question. He hesitated, unsure what to say to the question. Would she get even more irritated if he said yes? He would have liked to stay longer, especially when another had just showed up. He lowered his head, his ears resting back nervously, " I would." He admitted carefully, his light eyes studying hers. TAGS: Nita Stevie

Stevie's wandering thoughts were interrupted by the sound of her own name, her head swinging around to look at Keste. She didn't stop swimming and quickly looked away from the preyseeker, but grunted out a short "mornin'" before going back to minding her own business. Keste and Nita were hard for Stevie to read most of the time, so she often didn't bother - they were nice and were trustworthy companions, and that was good enough in her book.
After a few more laps Stevie felt sufficiently clean and headed back to the shallow waters, dragging herself out of the lake like some sort of sea monster. She was now stood near Keste, her fur dripping wet globs of water into the lake around her paws but she didn't bother to shake it out. Against the breeze it felt cold and heavy. Relaxing.
A few more moments passed and Stevie decided she was done here, as she wanted to continue poking her nose around. Her gaze shifted over to the mated pair. "I'll be around if either of you need me. Keste, if you're planning to take big prey down today give me a howl," a slow smirk started to worm its way onto her features, "I'm gonna want to be there." And with that she started trotting back the way she came, fur leaving a wet trail in her wake as she left her companions alone.

Nita snorted at Stevie's swift departure. She had an idea as to whu Stevie was so quick to disappear, but she made no comment on it. Now, however, Nita would have to swim with Kestw to make up for Stevie's lack of presence. It wasn't hard for Nita to know what Keste truly wanted sometimes, afterall he is one of the easiest wolves to read. It was just a matter of if Nita allowed it. It was no surprise to many others that Nita was the dominant one in the relationship; the sun would fall the day Nita allows herself to be controlled. In fact, what surprised others was that she was even to get a mate at all. Males enjoyed to control by default and had little patience for females like Nita. Nita had lost hope in finding a suitable mate, but then Keste had come along. He was kind and bright while being compliant and passive at the same time - the perfect oppoaite for Nita who was always moody and controlling. "Well since she had run off, I suppose a little swim won't hurt," She stood up and waded into the shallows. She said "swim" but she was just going to be on the part where Keste was. She refused to, however, go into the deeper side where she could not feel the earth beneath her paws.

The male stared after Stevie with a small frown on his face. He wished the other female didn't leave before they even had the chance to talk, but he wasn't one to complain. He simply watched her go with a disappointed look on his face, he was hoping for some sort of swimming buddy to accompany him. Once Stevie had gone and disappeared from the area, Keste ducked his head down and went to begin making his way out of the lake. However, Nita's sudden and surprising words stopping him in his tracks. He watched as his mate moved to join him in the water, his ears as well as his head straightening up. "R-really?" A certain light came to his eyes and his expression softened as Nita came closer and closer. This was the last thing he had expected her to do for him, but he couldn't have been more happier. He smiled, his tail causing ripples in the water as it began to wag uncontrollably. Glad to have her in the water with him, another playful spurt ran through him and he went on to jump off to the side, unintentionally splashing water in Nita's direction.

TALA
Tala and Stevie continued their leisure amble through the woodland. Ahead of them, the towering pines were thinner, a clearing perhaps? As the duo drew closer, they can see that it is neither. The firm, forest floor gave way to a marsh of tall reeds, the soil submerged in water. Dawn sunlight falls directly onto a tree trunk. It was positioned perfectly for crossing over a much less widened portion of the lake. Tala barreled to the nature-made bridge. She mounted the log as just as she did back in the Grove, only this time she was standing. Several gusts of wind threw her fur all about as her sage colored orbs stared down at the darting minnows and other fish just beneath the water's surface.
In one fluid movement, Tala launched herself off the perch and into the water, dunking herself completely under. With ears folded back, she breached the water's surface and cheered with a variety of "Wooos!" Just as Stevie claimed in the forest, Tala was, in fact, acting like a kiddo. Usually, Tala wasn't this joyful, her new expressions even annoyed herself.
Noticing the others just along the bank, she began to paddle in their direction. Her presence was surely announced by now.

Stevie let herself enjoy the long walk to the lake, her large paws crunching the ground beneath them really the only noise that filled the area. Her heart was still thumping a bit off beat, struggling to come down from it's high as she kept sneaking glances at Tala, but she forced it nonetheless in anticipation o seeing her other tribe mates. This part of her was reserved strictly for the other guardian.
The pair finally reached the lake, Stevie watching with small traces of humor on her expression as Tala barreled ahead to cross a fallen log bridge halfway, before jumping in and letting out calls of enjoyment. Stevie shook her head and snickered. The behavior was odd but it was nice to see Tala so happy. She took her time walking over to the log, her stocky limbs moving carefully as she crossed at a slow pace. Stevie already had one swim today, and if they were going to be hunting she wanted to keep her coat dry as to not weigh her down - a problem that Tala probably wouldn't face to the same extreme that Stevie would.
As she walked along the land, matching pace with the swimming Tala, Stevie spotted Nita and Keste in the distance, much in the same place where she left them. Hopefully they wouldn't mind a second interruption.

Nita couldn't help but growl softly when Keste splashed water all over her - the result of his joy when she had complied to stay and swim. Nita didn't like being wet, and she was already sacraficing her comfort so Keste could have that shine in his eyes. But, here she was, dripping wet thanks to Keste. Nita refused to let this act so unpunished, so when he had resurfaced, Nita raised her paw out of the water before swipping it sideways along the surface, sending a splash of water towards Keste's face. To outsiders, this would appear to be the initiation of something fun, but it wasnt. Although, she found it amusing enough and in turn she released a slight bark of laughter. Then she heard a sound of pure joy followed by a loud splash. Alarmed, Nita turned her head towards tbe noisr and to her relief, it was only Tala. She had jumped in and was now paddling towards them. The new expression on Tala made Nita tilt her head a bit in confusion. Tala normally was not such a happy wolf. But the answer quickly came to her when she spotted the stocky Stevie making her way leisurely along the bank. Amused, and aware, Nita greeted Tala, "Hello, Tala. You're looking mighty happy today."

As soon as Keste resurface, he glanced to Nita with wide, knowing that he had ended up splashing her. He expected to receive a scolding or even see her quickly jumping out of the water with the moment ruined. Instead, all he saw was water in his eyes. He barked out a yelp and leaped away in shock, shaking his head quickly to clear the blurry vision. Once he could finally see clearly, he shot a nervous glance over at Nita, his tail tucked down in fear of her anger. However, that quickly faded when she ended up letting out a laugh. He quickly hid his confusion in fear that it would ruin the moment, and grinned back at her. The grin faded quickly when an excited howl filled the air, it was their fellow tribe members. He remained silent and quickly scurried over to Nita's side to watch the two approach. Despite Tala being in such a happy mood, the change in attitude made him nervous. He wasn't used to it. LEON | The Sovereign "Speech." Thoughts. Actions. Tags: Samael, Chinuk, Salali, Keste, Nita, Tala, StevieLeon led the patrolling group out of the territory, his strides long and his head held low to make sure he kept pace with the others. The sovereign wasn't used to their fast paces, but he didn't dare say a word as he heaved his large frame along - after all, the faster he walked the faster this little mission of theirs could be over with and they could all return to the safety of the Aurum territory.
As they traveled Leon also spoke to Samael, giving the stranger an introduction to the pack's history and rank descriptions. He kept it brief, explaining that he came from a long line of sovereigns and mostly focusing his explanation on the warrior, scout, hunter, and healer roles, for if Samael really did wish to join he'd have to choose where he fit within those ranks. Leon also made an effort to extend a warmer attitude towards the stranger. Although he was more uncomfortable being away from the territory, Leon was glad to put some distance between Samael and some of his pack while he tried to get to know the loner a little better. After his lecture Leon fell silent for a moment, realizing that they were approaching Arbor Lake before picking it back up. "Samael, the decision is ultimately up to you. I just hope you realize joining Aurum isn't just promising to protect the land and it's traditions, but also the members themselves. We're a fam-"
Leon was cut off by the echo of a splash, the crack seemingly as loud as thunder to his alert ears. No fish breaking above the surface of the lake would make a sound that loud, especially considering the gleeful shout that came before it. His head snapped back to make eye contact with both Chinuk and Salali, gesturing with a flick of his head for them to join him as he crept closer to the lake, eventually spotting four somewhat distant figures. Wolves.
