-Scout- The Lumen tribe, Salali sat there quietly, she had never really met them before. She nodded noticing the concerned light that entered his eyes, "Of course. I would appreciate someone coming to watch my back." She fiddled her paws at the last part of his sentence, appreciating the fact that he was thinking of her well being. Salali looked up at him from her paws, then she reached up and booped his nose with a muddy paw. She gave him a reassuring smile, "I'm sure things will be fine, we're a strong pack with a strong leader." She raised her brows trying to emphasize her faith in his leadership. "We have a great Warchief, Shaman, and hunter. Our pack will make it through this." She stood up and walked a little ways away, then she shook out her fur sending mud flying. Salali looked at Leon, "I'm ready to go whenever you need me to. Oh, um thank you for sitting and eating with me too." She dipped her head, completely giving up on trying to make her ear stand up at this moment.  (color used: a0816a)

Listening to the nearby conversation between the Sovereign and the Scout, Chinuk eventually butt in, "I could come with you if you'd like," he offered. His prussian blue eyes flitted up to the sky, it was almost a muted grey now. A thick blanket of stratus clouds hovered over the land and he was almost certain it would give way any moment now. "We could track down the herds before the atmosphere starts wailing," he suggested to whoever was listening.

Salali watched as the Warchief approached. She raised a brow as he offered to come, she was hoping to be around Leon some more. "Um, how about all three of us go?" She suggested nervously, "We would look more formidable in a group of three than just two. In case the Lumen try something." Salali was trying to keep her annoyance out of her tone, she looked to Leon for his thoughts on this matter. Leon and I can walk together behind Chinuk...

KINEK
Kinek bounded over the tall tussocks of grass as her new friend simply stepped over them. The wildflowers were a palette of color on the incredible green; purple thistles, blue cornflowers, red poppies and tall asters with their yellow centers. There was no coordination like wolves of a pack, just a free-for-all choreographed by the wind. Eventually, the duo reached the pond. To Kinek's surprise, there was quite the gathering, though her closest friend Soot was there! Containing her excitement of seeing him, she approached the group with Samael at her side. " Look what I found," she chimed with a wide smile on her face. She was truly hoping the Sovereign would let him join. LEON | The Sovereign "Speech." Thoughts. Actions. Tags: Salali , Chinuk , Skye , Set Leon finished chewing his share of the fish as he nodded along to Salali's words. Of course he would have insisted she take someone along to have some company even if she didn't want any, but it was just good to hear someone validate his plan out loud. It was when he was about to reply that a quick flash of movement cut him off, a smear of muddy brown crossing his vision and them something wet painting the tip of his nose. Leon gasped on reflex, and slowly put the pieces together while looking at Salali in bewilderment.
She proceeded to compliment him generously and then stood up and stepped a few paces away, saying she was ready to go. Leon was powerless to stop the loud, hearty laugh that escaped him at the chain of events. He stood up and pranced over to her like a giddy pup, rubbing his nose against her shoulder and trying to ignore the increase of his heartbeat. "Salali, you devil," he snickered, calming down, "Your words are too kind. My leadership would be nothing without you and the rest of the pack." Leon copied her earlier action and shook out his pelt so any sticks or wet soil went flying.
Before he could reply to the last sentence of Salali's his ears registered Chinuk's voice and he turned to the warlord, looking surprised. He wasn't angry about being listened in on, but more embarrassed at the way he was acting. Rubbing mud all over Salali like some child. He was nodding by the time she suggested all three of them go. Despite his sudden want for alone time with the scout, whose presence he was finding especially calming today, the sovereign knew bringing along a strong fighter would be wise. "It's settled then, all three of us will go. The other's will remain safe within the territory until we're finished." He looked between Chinuk and Salali once more before excusing himself to tell the others of the plan.
Leon wandered over to where Soot, Set, and Skye were. He gave the feasting pup a gentle grin before looking both adults in the eye. "I'm going to be joining Chinuk and Salali on patrol today. Hold down the fort here and keep an eye on the pups for me, okay? I'll make sure everyone is up to date when we return." Without waiting for an answer, Leon dipped his head gracefully before trotting back over to the warlord and scout. "I'm ready when you two are."

Salali giggled when Leon nuzzled her shoulder, her heart beating faster at his laugh and overall happiness. She glanced at Chinuk feeling pleased with the fact Leon wanted to come. Salali watched as Leon walked away to tell the rest of the pack the plan and she glanced around noticing a large and small figure approaching. Salali's tail raised and a snarl filled her throat. "Chinuk who is he?" She approached growling her shoulder fur standing on end. "Kinek, come here, away from the strange wolf please." Salali looked the newcomer up and down, trying to appear taller, her flat ear not helping. She kept her teeth bared and held her stance waiting for Leon or Chinuk to come over.

A warm, genuine smile smeared itself across Chinuk's face as Salali and Leon's glee filled the atmosphere. As soon as Chinuk was about to start the group on their trek around the borders, a strong unfamiliar odor flooded his nostrils.
He stretched out his relaxed body to its full potential as his ears stood atop his cranium. With deep orbs tracing the faces of his fellow pack mates to see if they had smelled the same aroma he did, two voices swarmed his ears. Both belonging to known faces, Kinek and Salali. Though, what they had said startled him. With a brow raised, serenity plastered across his face, and growl ceased in his chest, he turned on his heels and just a few yards away stood the youngster, Kinek with a stranger. Chinuk cast a glance to the distance between the others and the stranger, and then a glance to Leon and Salali, gesturing for her to watch out for an ambush within the brush. Refocusing on the intruder, Chinuk kept his voice at a steady, almost stoic tone, "what is it that brings you here?" If the stranger wanted to harm the similar looking pup, they would have already. Chinuk knew respecting one could usually result in the mutual peace, the last thing he wanted was another short-fused wolf like himself blowing up.

Set had smiled warmly at the Hunter’s reply. He was about to reply when a sudden new scent filled his nose and his silvery eyes darted over to the stranger standing next to Kinek. He froze in place and stared for a long moment, before subconsciously moving a little in front of Skye and mostly in front of Soot. He didn’t like the sight of a stranger, it sent a terrible tingle down his back.

Samael trailed along, flanking the young pup all along the way. He couldnt help but snort at the sight of the pup bouncing over the reeds that appeared to be twice her height out of his right eye. Since he was over five times her size and height, the tall white wolf did not have the battle the weeds like Kinek, instead merely stepping over it. It wasn't long before multiple strange scents - to which Samael guessed were foreign wolves - and he felt the urge to stiffen up. Of course, Samael was a confident and strong wolf with plenty of experience in the art of battle, but not even he could hold his own for very long against a pack. Carefully, he slowed his pace as Kinek and him brokw through into a more open area, allowing her to be ahead for a few moments. But she had stopped at the edge and he paused along side next to her, feeling the tiny scrap press her weight against his leg without a care. Samael swing his head back forward, tearing his gaze off the pup and onto the sight before him. Thanks to his blind left eye, Samael had to turn his head a bit in order to take in all the wolves before him. And to be frank, Samael wasnt very intimidated, despite being greatly out numbered. Carefully, he studied them. He took note of their posture and how they were all tense the moment they saw him. He took note on their voice pitch/tone and the words they used when speaking to him. However, Samael couldn't hold back a snort when a female, who was much smaller than him with a limp ear, approached with a serious look in her eyes. Her teeth were bared and she was doing her best to appear threatening, but was failing in his eyes - or eye. Ignoring her commemt and request for Kinek to move away from him, Samael looked around in hopes of finding who the "Sovereign" was. He wanted to see if they were as mighty as their title suggested. But another wolf approached, a male who was taller than the she-wolf. He was dark in terms of fur color with bright eyes. Samael shifted his head so he could get a slightly better look at him like he did to the female before him. He noticed the signal and spoke in his low rough voice "Pardon the intrusion. I suspect my presence is a surprise to you, especially when I am along side one of your members," He relaxed his posture ever so slightly, "But I come alone. As for why I am here... Two reasons." Samael flicked the ear on his head that was on the same side of Kinek. "One, your pup was wandering around alone and we stumbled upon one another and I suppose I thought it would be a good idea to bring her back." Mostly a lie, but they did not need to be aware. Then his bright yet dull amber orbs focused on holding the male's gaze "And I got curious as to what kind of wolves roamed this area." Not wanting to come off as too arrogant, Samael forced away his boiling pride and dipped his head ever so slightly as a sign of respect. Disgusting, a voice in his head snarled but Samael ignored it, appearing calm and collected.

Skye was waiting for his reply but when she didn't receive any, she followed the shaman's eyes to the pup and stranger who had just announced their arrival. Almost immediately, the female jumped up and whipped around as if afraid the stranger would attack her back at any moment. She took a step closer to Set and lowered her head with her ears pinned back. She didn't growl or snap at the stranger, but her first reaction was to look over Kinek. The pup was her biggest priority. " Kinek... come here please.." She asked in a quiet yet firm voice. She listened to the stranger's words, but couldn't bring herself to believe them without checking out Kinek more closely. His little act of respect was convincing, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that something wasn't right about him. TAGS: Set Soot Kinek Samael Chinuk Leon Salali

LEON | The Sovereign "Speech." Thoughts. Actions. Tags: Salali , Chinuk , Skye , Set , Kinek, SamaelJust as soon as Leon had bounded over to Salali and Chinuk, he froze. Something shifted in the atmosphere and the sovereign wasn't even able to make eye contact with Chinuk before Kinek's voice drifted into his ears. While Salali and Chinuk were quicker to jump into action, Leon took a moment to school his face before turning around and taking in the scene. Kinek stood near an unfamiliar white male, rather comfortably, with Salali and Chinuk acting as barriers between them and the smaller group of Set, Soot, and Skye. He sent them a pointed glance to stay put as he approached more slowly towards the stranger and Kinek, listening to the male address the warlord while keeping himself in the background.
Hearing that the male meant the pale pup no harm hardly calmed Leon's growing protectiveness, and by the end of the stranger's ramble Leon was ready to make himself known. With a raised head and his large stature posed authoritatively, he stepped in between Chinuk and Salali, tail raised high as to make clear who was in charge. He stared at Kinek for a moment with an unreadable expression, waiting patiently for her to comply to Salali and Skye's commands. He then turned to the stranger who had his head dipped.
"No wolf 'roams' these lands. This is Aurum Pack territory, and I am their sovereign, Leon," he commented, clearly unimpressed with the stranger. "I thank you for returning Kinek safely to us, but if that is all you needed then I am going to ask you to leave." He quirked one questioning brow to prompt an answer out of this trespasser. Leon would've hated this situation any day, but especially with recent events he was giving perhaps more cold of a shoulder than he usually would. Kinek was in for a world of trouble. |

Kinek's ears plastered themselves against her skull as several commands were sent her way to retreat to the pack. She truly didn't want another scolding. Averting her gaze up to Samael and then to the others, she frowned. Without a single protest, she furrowed her brows and sulked over to where Soot was and plopped down with a huff and grunt. She mouthed a simple apology towards Samael, but doubted he even saw it.

Salali was really struggling, and not due to anything bad, but she was trying not to start trembling. So much excitement, and then the fear of this wolf hurting Kinek. She watched Leon and Chinuk address the stranger, and she audibly growled at his slight arrogance. She looked down at her chest fur and realized she had fluffed up looking extra poofy. She watched Kinek return to soot and proceeded to continue watching Leon confront the stranger. Salali wished for some comfort at the moment, true unease entered her mind as she began to wonder how bold other wolves could be. She heard Leon tell the stranger to leave and stood by ready to help force him out of the territory if needed.

Samael wasn't really surprised when Kinek caved into the pressure and begrudgingly left his side, although he was a hit disappointed in the lack of resistance. After all, Kinek had given him the impression of being free. But then again, she was a mere pup. Once she settled over next to another wolf of her own age, Samael turned his gaze back onto the others, unware of the apology that Kinek had sent towards his blind side. Before any of them could speak, another wold appeaed. He was larger than the rest and held an air of authority arounf him as he made his way forward, body tall. Immediately, Samael knew this was the so called "Sovereign" Kinek had mentioned before before he even opened his jaws to speak. The male was far more intimidating compared to the others, without and a doubt, but that didn't sway Samael in the slighest. Nor did he panic when the Sovereign, introduced as Leon, demanded he leave his territory. And judging from the looks of the others, they seemed anxious to get rid of him as well. But Samael did not plan on leaving. "Forgive me for using the improper word then," Samael replied raising his head and standing at a similar height of Leon. "I have not been apart of a pack myself so ignorance is to be expected." He said simply. Then Samael looked calmly into the eyes of the Sovereign, pausing for a brief moment to study Leon before continuing. "But now that I am here, I suppose that returning Kinek is not the only thing I wish to do. I did not lie when I said was curious about the lifestyle of the wolves that live here. And if you do not mind me being bold, I'd like to join." He kept a collected demeanor, being firm but not overly challenging. It was true that Samael wished to be apart of a pack. The life of solitude was growing boring, and he needed a new way to stay entertained.

This was the very types of pressure he had been trained to remain calm under since puppyhood. The pale colored male was large and didn't seem very bothered by being faced with an entire pack, which in turn bothered Leon quite a lot. This kind of cocky attitude never meant anything good, and he could only hope that this male was an exception - that after he left the territory he would stay out. It was not the apologies that ended up surprising Leon the most, but rather the stanger's request to join. At this Leon's stony expression morphed into one of mild surprise. There was no challenge to his tone, and he did bring back Kinek in one piece, but Leon was still skeptical of his sudden arrival. That didn't mean he wouldn't consider the request, though. He glanced back at both Chinuk and Salali in turn, his eyes telling them to stay calm but alert (a useless command in Chinuk's case), before turning back around. "Let's not get too ahead of ourselves," the sovereign started, voice even as he looked the stranger up and down. "Firstly I'd like to know your name, and whether you have any affiliation with the Lumen or not." Even if the stranger did have Lumen ties, Leon was not a fool who expected to give them up right away, but instead he watched the male's reaction. Any give away in his sharp amber eyes would have Leon chasing him off in a heartbeat. If not, then perhaps he'd consider letting the stranger stay with the pack until he could be sure of his final answer. |
