LEON | The Sovereign "Speech." Thoughts. Actions. Tags: Skye , Chinuk , Soot , Set After the heavy conversation wrapped up with Chinuk, Leon was quick to school his expression back to neutrality, his eyes following the path that the warlord's had taken. Two of Leon's favorite things about his pack were the pups and the unspoken fondness and need to protect them that bonded the adults together. He caught Skye's soft gaze also on Soot and felt himself once again proud as she offered the rabbit to Set's pup.
Leon looked back at Chinuk once again at his new remarks, an involuntary grunt escaping from his throat at the mention of the pesky tribe wolves. After thinking for a moment Leon began to nod; the theory actually made sense, but for it to work completely the Lumen Tribe would've had to have gotten closer to the territory than Leon liked. He didn't care for the nomads in general, but with them getting too close for comfort, and potentially disrupting his pack's food supply, a new spark of dislike festered within him. Had those ruffians not been taught proper manners?
"That could be..." he agreed, sounding a bit more huffy now. "Pay extra attention to the borders just to be safe. I don't want them getting to brave and wandering around like they own the place." Leon then stood up and walked past Chinuk, heading over to the edge of the pond and looking more thoughtful than ever, clearly contemplating new options and scenarios. He lowered his head calmly down to the water and took a few laps before standing straight once more, water dripping from his muzzle. "I'll have to think this over some more," he mumbled to himself, looking out at where the sun had now crawled to a place fully visible in the sky.

Set had taken his time to approach the pond, the scent of the sovereign was clear in the air. He slowly paced forward as his eyes tracked Leon and Chinuk, leaving them to their important discussion as he moved closer to follow Soot. He turned his head and his winter silver eyes landed on Skye. There they lingered for a while as he took in the hunter. He scoffed with a slight smile on his muzzle as he bowed his head slightly. "Good morning Sovereign," He said over his shoulder, "Good morning, Skye." He said the name slowly. His eyes finally dropped down to the rabbit in front of Soot and gently nudged the pup to go ahead with the meal. "That's very kind of you, hunter."

Soot's attention was dragged away from the buzzing bugs over the pond when Skye spoke. He turned to her, eyes lighting up at the rabbit and bounded over at the encouraging nudge from his father. He gave Skye a brief look of thanks before he began to eat. Even though he appreciated the food, Soot couldn't help but wish Kinek was there to share it with him. It was too much for him, anyway.

"Good morning, Set." The female finally said, slowly moving to sit as she scanned him over through the corner of her eyes. Her lips twitched in a little smile as she forced her attention back to the pup as he dove right into the meal. She couldn't help but feel proud of herself just seeing the pup eat comfortably from her very own catch. It was always nice to see the pack thrive because of her work. She licked the remaining blood off her snout from picking up the rabbit for Soot, tilting her head at Set's next words. "Just doing my job, Shaman. Speaking of, how are your herbs?" She teased, slowly turning her head to make eye contact with him.

Set immediately groaned, rolling his eyes as the question echoed in his head. "Looking for stock right now." He answered simply. He turned his gaze back to the she-wolf and couldn't help but stare a little longer than necessary. "Soot is going to help carry some back to the den." He looked down at his little grime colored pup. "Would you like to help, Hunter?" He asked, presuming she wasn't hanging around the sovereign for duties. At least he hoped not. He looked at the other two higher ranked wolves and paused.

CHINUK Chinuk nodded, a silent agreement and acknowledgment of Leon's request, "howl if you need anything," he remarked before focusing on something near the edge of the pond, directly to the right of Soot. Against the mottled grey and green of the banks, the frog was almost as invisible as a seahorse on coral. It was almost as large as a toad but with smooth skin and eyes the colour of stagnant pond water. The frog's skin was the color of the forest floor in fall, fading green mixed with so many browns. There was a tightness to his skin except for a crinkle at his compressed legs, muscles tensed in readiness to flee. "Soot," he murmured, hoping the youngster would hear him. Catching the charcoal colored pup's attention, he gestured to the amphibian. Leon Soot

Salali
Salali approached the lake at a quick trot panting heavily. She had circled the territory and was desperate for some water. Her tongue was hanging out the side of her mouth as she was almost at the edge of the water, Salali then noticed the Sovereign and Warlord to her right. She stopped and forced herself to breathe more deeply, tucking her tongue back into her mouth. Salali then turned to the left and walked a couple feet down before proceeding to the water, she didn't want to interrupt their meeting. She sighed sitting up after drinking quite a bit and glanced behind her. She had left a trail of soft patches of undercoat that she was shedding. Salali sat and began grooming herself trying to remove whatever loose fur was ready to come out.

Against her will, Skye's tail brushed against the grass in a mini wag to convey how pleased she was by the invite. She quickly curled her tail back in close to her body and shook her head to herself as she looked away in thought. She did have to go hunting for the day still, however she was very easily convincing herself that she could make time later in the day. Her gentle gaze followed Soot with a tilt of her head, a small smile coming across her face. "I'm afraid I won't be much help but if you don't mind teaching an amateur the basics, then I'd love to.. Shaman." She chuckled softly at the repeated title.
She glanced over to the newcomer joining everyone in the area. It was Salali, the scout. She watched the panting female with understanding, she had gone through the same exact feeling not too long ago. That rabbit really was a pain to catch.

LEON | The Sovereign "Speech." Thoughts. Actions. Tags: Salali Leon lost track of time as he stood still, staring out over the water. His racing thoughts and the movements of the world around him had pulled the Sovereign into a sort of trance. All he could manage as Set and Chinuk addressed him was a slow nod of acknowledgement to them both. He wasn’t meaning to be rude, but this new development was nothing him more by the minute. It was the entrance of Salali, the pack’s scout, that snapped him out of his focus. She kept her distance but approached the pond that Leon was now standing by, and the Sovereign watched absently as she drank her weight in the pond’s water. “Good morning,” came Leon’s simple greeting as he decided to break off from the rest of the group and speak to her. Tufts of fur had fallen behind Salali and she was grooming now, so Leon decided to sit a few feet away and let her decide whether or not she was in the mood to talk. ((I apologize for how weak this is. On my phone and my headache is just not going away. ;; ))

Salali Salali jumped at Leon's greeting, she sat up from grooming, her left ear drooping. "Good morning" she chirped back, "How are you?" She shook her head trying to get her left ear to stand up again. Salali shuffled her paws quietly glancing at Leon occasionally. She always enjoyed being around Leon, she didn't necessarily have to speak very much. She was lost in thought watching the minnows dart in the shallows. Salali laid down tucking her paws under her chest and watched the minnows feeling amused with their busy little lives.

LEON | The Sovereign "Speech." Thoughts. Actions. Tags: Salali Leon's brow twitched at Salali's surprised reaction. As he listened to her words the sovereign watched as she tried to shake the left tip of her ear back to it's full height, a quirk he suspected bothered her but that he found interesting. "I'm alright," came his vague reply after a moment. Leon looked back at the rest of the Aurum wolves that lingered around the area. Yeah, he could be much worse. "How about yourself?" He contemplated asking her if she'd been on a patrol this morning, but stopped himself, knowing Salali. The scout was quiet, and he didn't want to bombard her with questions this early in the morning.
The sovereign watched as the female laid down and tucked her paws under herself, his gaze following hers to see the minnows darting about in the pond. For whatever reason the sight of Salali watching the little fish made Leon suddenly tired. He'd been getting up so early recently and just being in the presence of someone so calm had him exhausted, reasoning with himself that a few moments of relaxation would be okay before he got back to work. Leon joined the scout on the ground, laying down parallel to her with his paws in front of him for his head to rest on. The position fluffed up the thick fur around the back of his neck, allowing the breeze to ruffle it and do away with any tension he was carrying.

Salali -Scout-
Salali smiled slightly feeling more talkative than normal, she chuckled, "I'm glad you're doing ok." She glanced at him while he laid down, "I'm doing well, but I did find some strange smells on the border near Arbor Lake, it could've been our old scents meddled together but I'm not sure, but I'll tell you more in a few minutes. You look like you need a breather." Salali gave him a gentle glance, watching his fur flip around in the wind. She sat up feeling hungry and watched as a fairly snack sized fish came up to get the minnows. Salali focused on where her shadow landed and slowly rotated in such a way as to not bother the fish. She slowly approached the muddy edge and before she knew it she slipped. Salali had managed to grab the fish but her front paws were now covered in mud. Her ears pinned back in embarrassment she turned and went back to where she had laid down and glanced at Leon, "This is why I am not a hunter. I simply lack the grace for it. Would you like some of the fish?" She glanced at the Sovereign with a tilt of her head, her ear flopping again. Salali wanted to make sure that he had eaten, and not forgotten.

LEON | The Sovereign "Speech." Thoughts. Actions. Tags: Salali Leon's ears perked with curiosity, first at the amount of words that Salali had spoken and then at what those words contained. His expression hardened a bit as he became thoughtful, almost missing the tail end of her sentence. Something as simple as that observation was enough to warm Leon's heart, and he returned her glace with a gentle smile, letting her know that not only was she correct but also that it was appreciated. His silence confirmed that he could use a moment of peace.
The scout got up from her spot, walking closer to the water. Leon watched on as she seemed to see something beneath the surface, his suspicions confirmed as she got closer to edge, and although she'd slipped, at the end of the ordeal a fish was hanging out of her jaws. The sovereign shook his head at her words as she joined him once again. "Ah, hush. That's still more than I could ever catch," he chuckled, eyeing the fish. "Well done." Leon didn't care that she'd slipped, he'd found the catch impressive nonetheless.
At Salali's offer, Leon turned to look at Soot on instinct. The pup had the rabbit that Skye caught earlier in the day, and now that he payed attention, Leon could feel his stomach rumble. He'd been so stressed lately, keeping himself well fed hadn't been on the top of his priority list. The sovereign turned back to look at Salali's soft brown eyes, thankfulness on his features. He scooted closer. "Only if you're alright with sharing. You deserve to enjoy your prize catch," he commented, smiling amusedly at himself. "And you can tell me more about the scents while we eat." He wanted to tell her about Chinuk's suspicion of the Lumen Tribe, but opted to let her speak her mind first. He didn't want to plant the idea in her head before she shared her own thoughts.

Salali
Salali watched him scoot closer and smiled, "I wouldn't have offered if I didn't want to share." She pushed the fish in between them trying not to get mud on Leon, and then thought back to what she had seen. "I had found old paw prints and the smell of wolves. I feel a suspicion that someone has been at the lake, but at the same time, the lake is not in our territory. So it is open ground to a traveler who is thirsty." Salali looked Leon in the eye, becoming much more serious. "The paw prints and smells did not cross over into our border, the next time I circle I can go investigate if you wish." She sighed unclenching her jaw and relaxing her shoulders, the strange scents had really made her uneasy. Leon's scent was also comforting and helped her relax. Then she noticed her ear had gone flat, she let out a grouchy grumble and began using a paw to try to flip it back into an upwards position. After trying and failing she looked to the Sovereign for his input, and leaned down beginning to chew on the tail of the fish.

LEON | The Sovereign "Speech." Thoughts. Actions. Tags: Salali Leon watched the scout with concerned eyes, leaning down to rip off a portion of the fish as he listened to her observations. He took mental notes, not only of Salali's report but also of her tense shoulders, the way her expression turned serious. There were few things Leon hated more than when his pack was stressed and worried. He immediately wanted to soothe away her concerns, but he couldn't without diluting the reality of the situation. "Your findings make some sense paired with Chinuk's theory. He thinks The Lumen Tribe may be getting closer to our borders than they have in the past, which may be why the prey herds have been avoiding this area recently," he told her, watching as she fiddled with her ear again. He thought about her offer to investigate, wondering if it was really a good idea to go poking around outside their land. If the Lumen were getting closer, braver, it probably meant their numbers were growing or strong. He wasn't comfortable sending her out on her own. "An investigation would be useful," he agreed, "but I want you to take either Chinuk or myself if you decide to go outside the borders. The Lumen can be unpredictable, and if it is them... well. I just don't want you getting hurt." Leon looked at her as he chewed another chunk of the fish, hoping she would agree just for his own peace of mind.
